1976 Land Rover Range Rover 2 Door Classic Dakar 4×4 Very Rare
For Sale on eBay1976 Land Rover Range Rover 2 Door Classic Dakar 4×4 Very Rare
For sale is a 1976 Dakar Range Rover Conversion, a rare and valuable 4×4 that is a true off-road classic. It is tax and MOT exempt and features a Rover 3.5 V8 engine. The car is fundamentally solid throughout and comes with lots of paperwork, receipts, etc. It has a stunning appearance and offers plenty of investment potential.
Dakar 4×4 conversions were mostly converted by the factory, which made them fully road and off-road legal but costly at the time. Most were built using the chassis and running gear from the now very expensive 2-door Range Rover Classic models. If completed today, the same conversion would likely cost over £30,000 or more.
The car was acquired from an elderly gentleman who had owned it for approximately 2 decades and had used it regularly, even around the streets of London. He decided to sell it due to his aging limbs. When the current owner took ownership, they only needed to put a new battery on, prime the car, and turn the key a few times before it roared back to life, sounding remarkably well considering its 5-year lay-up.
Although the current owner had good intentions of giving the car a once-over and having some serious on/off-road fun, they have decided to let someone else go forth and take over the enjoyment baton and potentially reap the huge financial rewards when (and if) they decide to sell.
The car is difficult to value as it is rare and does not come up for sale often. The reserve is set below what the owner feels it is worth but this does not mean they will accept an offer. The car was designed and built to be rough, rugged, and ready to conquer the world, and as such, has loose trims/wiring and plenty of scuffs, marks, and imperfections. The Diff Lock lever seems to have come loose, so it will need sorting before hitting the roads/hills.
